It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop to score an absolute 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is thanks to a mix of high-tech sensors including a structured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops. As with other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, with an intuitive mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only issue is that it's a noisy unit, which can be a problem if you run it in the morning before work or at night as you attempt to sleep. It's also quite expensive, although it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are similarly capable and better-looking. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and refills the water tank, and washes and drys mop pads. The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floorplans and identify obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its premium competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards, although this wasn't quite 100% foolproof during our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions. The vacuum cleaner comes with a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to complete the task. It also features “Intelligent Dirt Detection”, that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and also alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home depending on the amount of dirt they are. If you have a larger home, it's worth selecting a model with a the option of cleaning zones or spots. This lets you instruct the robot on which part of your home must be cleaned by using the app or voice control. A stairway mode is useful if you have a lot furniture. Also, a recharge and resume function that allows your robot vacuum to continue where it left off is ideal for busy families. 5. iRobot Roomba RX3 The RX3 is more advanced than its price would suggest. It is a good vacuum cleaner and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying base that can be washed. The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan and any “no-go” areas you set on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, set up the perfect spot for cleaning or sort out your rooms with the most dirt for better performance. The app also grants access to a host of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning. It can also reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It is equipped with an impressive 8000 Pascal suction, as well as clever combs for removing pet hair. It also has the ability to set up a spot clean that scours a specific area. The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba.
